Willie Mae Pigford

Obituary Willie Mae Pigford (April 10, 1926-February 6, 2023) Willie Mae Dudley was born on April 10, 1926 in Wallace, NC. Both of her parents died at an early age, and she and her sister, Lois, were raised by her Uncle Timothy and Catherine Newton. Shortly after graduating from high school in Pender County Public Schools, she married Robert Thedrick Pigford. To this union, a son, Thedrick Pigford was born. Soon thereafter, the family moved to Brooklyn, New York and their second son, Richland Thomas Pigford was born. Willie Mae loved to sew and spent much of her career in New York's garment industry. In 1964 she and her husband relocated to Wallace where she continued to work in the sewing industry. She also joined New Kirk Baptist Church and served as a Sunday School teacher there for many years. Among those who will cherish her memory are her two sons, Thedrick Pigford of Atlanta, Georgia and Richard Pigford of Clinton, North Carolina. She will also be remembered and missed by her grandchildren, great grands, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Events Details are pending.
