In Loving Memory of Susie E. Britt
February 15, 1933 – March 13, 2026
Susie E. Britt, a woman of unwavering faith, remarkable resilience, and boundless love for her family, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2026. Born in Franklin, Virginia, on February 15, 1933, Susie was the eldest daughter of the late Harvey and Georgia Everett.
Susie’s life was defined by her uplifting spirit and her devotion to those she loved. At a young age, she was made to leave school in the 8th grade to work and support her family. She later met and married Robert Everett Britt, and together they welcomed their beloved daughter, Marian.
When Robert was called to serve in the war and lost his life, Susie made the courageous choice to pack up her life in Virginia and move to Boston, Massachusetts. Though she arrived with only an 8th-grade education, Susie’s work ethic was unmatched. She built a long, successful career at Polaroid and achieved the dream of buying a home for her family. Never one to stop growing, she also attended beauty school and became the proud owner and operator of Susie’s Beauty Salon before eventually returning to her roots in Virginia.
Above all, Susie’s greatest joy was found in the Word of God. A woman of deep faith, she loved sharing the Gospel with everyone she met. She was also a gifted musician who taught herself to play the organ by ear. Her home was often filled with the sounds of her singing and the simple joys of her favorite soap operas and word-find puzzles.
Susie was a matriarch in every sense of the word—an amazing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was happiest when surrounded by her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert. Her legacy of strength and love lives on through her daughter, Marian; her granddaughters, Phyllis Dew (Ernest), Christina Everett Hussey (John), and Susan Everett (fiancé Alex Grodski); six great-grandchildren, Shannon, Courtney, Christiana, Avery, Danyelle, and Sydney; five great-great-grandchildren; and two beloved great-grand pups. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends who played a significant role in her life.
Funeral arrangements are being planned and will be announced once they are complete and approved by the family.
