Ms. Ruby Kirkbride passed away at Transitions Lifecare Hospice Facility on Friday, October 11, 2024. "Ruby Eileen Kirkbride, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at Transitions Lifecare Hospice Facility on October 11, 2024, at the age of 89. Born Ruby Eileen Deeter on November 28, 1934, in the small town of Marietta, Illinois, to Jesse Michael Deeter and Emma Marie Woodford, Ruby was one of nine siblings and learned early on the importance of family, hard work, and laughter. Ruby's love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. At just 16 years old, she married Bill Joachim on April 21, 1951. Together, they built a life, raising three children who were her pride and joy: Rebekah Sams (and husband Larry, of Raleigh, North Carolina), William Stephen Joachim (of Canton, Illinois), and Charles Michael Joachim (and wife Patty, of Cuba, Illinois). Ruby's family continued to grow, and she took immense joy in becoming "Gram" to seven and a great-grandmother to ten, each lighting up her world uniquely. Ruby was a skilled seamstress with a flair for fashion and an eye for detail. She poured her heart into her craft, running her dress shop in Canton, Illinois, charmingly named "The Cloak Room." Her shop was not only a place of business but a hub of community, where Ruby's warmth and creativity touched the lives of many. Ruby was a woman of courage and determination, with a sense of adventure that never waned. She sold her shop and followed her heart, embarking on new chapters in Florida and later California, where she spent cherished years alongside her sister Patricia. Ruby was known for embracing life's possibilities, whether she was painting, golfing, or traveling to new places. Her boundless energy extended to her love for games, whether she was sharing a laugh over a board game or getting competitive with cards. In 2005, Ruby made Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, her home, where she continued to bring light and joy to those around her. She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, two brothers, and her great-grandson Anthony, whose memories she carried close to her heart. Ruby's legacy lives on through her family, her friends, and all who were lucky enough to know her. Her warmth, creativity, and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten."
