Rowena Sprinkle

September 8, 1966 — June 4, 2020

Rowena "Ro" Lynn Sprinkle was born in Raleigh, North Carolina on September 8th, 1966 to Bob (Deceased) and Nola Armstrong. She was the baby girl of the family and was greatly loved and cherished by her parents and siblings. Rowena was saved in February of 1988 when she believed on the Lord Jesus Christ and repented of her sins-He became her Savior and she loved and served Him all of her days. Rowena spent her life in the Raleigh area; graduating from Enloe High School and then studying at North Carolina State University. In 1996 she had her first child, Clara, and her second daughter Sylvia followed in 1997. Ro loved being a mother to her girls. She stayed at home to care for them while they were young. When they began attending elementary school, Ro started working as an assistant teacher there. She loved being close to her girls and sharing the same schedule. This also began Rowena's career as a teacher, which she enjoyed for several years. After teaching at Leesville Elementary School, Ro became the K-4 teacher at Landmark Christian Academy in Cary, where she and her daughters attended church. She also taught Sunday School class. Her students adored her creativity, gentleness, and compassion. Ro loved to use her artistic talents to decorate the classroom and create activities for the students. At the church, Ro was appreciated for her willingness and ability to decorate for weddings and events, arrange flowers, create exciting backdrops for Bible School, and transform the church for Christmas. In her later years, Ro used her talents as the Visual Specialist at Bass Pro Shops. She felt right at home, and very quickly called many coworkers her family. While at Bass Pro, Ro met Terry, who swept her off her feet and married her four months later in May 2015; they also began attending Bethel Baptist Church in Cary. Ro loved being outdoors in God's creation. She spent every opportunity she had either walking through the woods, four-wheeling, or relaxing in a hammock. Her friends and neighbors enjoyed joining her and Terry on these adventures and she loved their company. In 2015, shortly after her marriage to Terry, Ro was diagnosed with cancer. It was a battle she fought with bravery, grace, humility, and humor. In February 2020, Rowena bravely faced the valley of the shadow of death when she was given only 2 weeks to live-but God had other plans when He granted her ten times that long. In her final weeks, she was surrounded by family, friends, coworkers, former students, and neighbors who loved her so much. Ro won the battle against cancer when she passed away peacefully on June 4th, 2020, and was given a new, cancer-free body. Her last earthly breath was taken with Terry holding her right hand and Clara holding her left. Although she will be greatly missed, Ro is rejoicing that she is "Finally Home," with her heavenly Father and her Dad. Ro is survived by her husband, Terry Sprinkle; her mother, Nola Armstrong; her siblings, Rob Armstrong, Dawn (David) Tobin, Deana Thomas, Rick (Stephanie) Armstrong, and David (Kim) Armstrong; by her daughters, Clara (John) Podhany, and Sylvia McFarland; step-children Shannon (David) Crigger and TJ (Melanie) Sprinkle; by her granddaughter, Aurelia DuBois; by her step-grand children, Arleigh, Levi, Landrie, Madeline, and Colton; and many nieces and nephews. Events Details are pending.
