Robert Andrew "Andy" Shook, born on February 5, 1958, in Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away on November 23, 2024, after several months of battling an unknown illness.
Andy was a lifelong fan of NC State (especially their football team). He studied Furniture Manufacturing & Engineering after spending his first two years at Western Carolina University. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, his work took him on travels throughout Italy, where he grew fond of the country's beauty and culture, often sharing stories of his experiences abroad. Above all, Andy had a steadfast love for God. A dedicated elder in the Presbyterian Church, he was a longtime member of the Kirk of Kildare in Cary, NC, where his faith and leadership were cherished by the congregation.
Andy's gentle spirit, his humor, and his unwavering love for his family and faith will be missed immensely. A celebration of his life will be held at Kirk of Kildare on December 4, 2024, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Frankie Lemmon School & Developmental Center in Raleigh, NC.
Andy was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, cherished deeply by those who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Christie Haynie Shook; son, Matthew Kelly Shook (Elizabeth); daughter, Carey Cecelia Shook (Michael); brother, James Burney Shook (Melinda), uncle, James Lee Burney, and friend Stuart Turner. Andy was preceded in death by his son, Andrew Davis Shook; uncle, William Yates Burney; and parents, Edward Andrew Shook, Jr. and Mary Ila Burney Shook.
