Nathaniel O'Neal “Nat” Cannon, 51, of Wilson, North Carolina, passed away on September 4, 2026.

Nat was a man who knew how to enjoy life and treasured the people and experiences that made it meaningful. Above all, he loved his children, Madison Lynn Cannon and Devin O'Neal Cannon, who were an important and cherished part of his life.

Those who knew Nat will undoubtedly remember his laugh. Nat’s laughter was uniquely his own—unmistakable, contagious, and capable of bringing joy to everyone around him. When Nat laughed, it was hard not to laugh along with him. It is a sound that those who loved him will surely miss, but one they will never forget.

Nat loved to fish and found happiness in being near the water. Whether he was waiting for the next catch or simply enjoying the day, fishing was one of his favorite ways to spend his time.

He also had a special love for Key West, where he enjoyed visiting his best friend, Rich Vigus. The trips, laughter, friendship, and memories they shared held a special place in Nat’s life.

Throughout his career, Nat worked in the semiconductor industry for many years and held 3 patents. He worked hard, but he also understood that life was meant to be lived—to laugh, spend time with the people you care about, and make memories along the way.

Nat is survived by his children, Madison Lynn Cannon and Devin O'Neal Cannon; his mother, Pamela Greenbush; and his brother, Derrick Cannon, along with extended family and the many friends whose lives were touched by knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Cannon, and his older brother, Tim Cannon.

Nat’s life cannot be measured simply by his 51 years, but by the memories, friendships, laughter, and love he leaves behind. His absence will be deeply felt, but pieces of Nat will always remain—in his children, in the stories his friends will continue to tell, in memories made in Key West, and in quiet days spent near the water.

And for those fortunate enough to have heard that unmistakable laugh, they will only need to close their eyes to hear Nat laughing again.
