Nancy Strickland

Nancy Rutherford Strickland of Wake Forest, NC, left her earthly home after 76 years on August 21, 2021. Nancy was born in Emory, GA to the late James Ray Rutherford and Mary Tippens Rutherford on April 29, 1945. She was the youngest of three daughters and raised in Georgia and North Carolina. Nancy loved spending time researching her ancestors which led to her membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution. Nancy loved to dance the shag and if you would put on some good Beach Music, she would show you her skills. She retired from the NC Employment Security Commission after many years of services. Nancy was preceded in death by her father James Rutherford, mother Mary Rutherford, sister Barbara Pruitt, and daughter Wanda Viverette-Sagel. She is survived by her sons: Bobby Strickland (Regina), John Strickland (Rosalie), daughter Vicki Whisman, 8 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren, sister Andrea Carpenter, and nieces and nephews. Services will be private at the request of the family. Memorials may be made to Transitions Hospice Home 200 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607
