Obituary Lynn's Journey Mr. Lynn Smith, Jr. departed this life at Home on Thursday, April 21, 2016. He was born November 28, 1952 in Jacksonville, NC to the late Rosie Lee McClain and Lynn Smith, Sr. He was preceded in death by his brother, Rev. Lonnie McClain. A Time to Love He met and married his wife Marthell Owens Smith. They were married for 42 years. To this union, two sons were born: Jamal K. Smith and Quami R. Smith. A Time to Serve Lynn entered the United States Army on December 1, 1977 and was honorably discharged on September 13, 1984. During his tenure, he travelled the world and made his Country and Family proud. A Time to Return Home On April 20th, the death angel beckoned Lynn to return to his Father in Heaven. He transitioned peacefully, and leaves to cherish his memories: his wife Mrs. Marthell Owens Smith of the home, two sons: Jamal K. Smith (Ke'sha) of Evans, Georgia and Quami R. Smith of Raleigh; two grandchildren: Jamal K. Smith, Jr. and Makayla Smith; five Sisters: Lottie Moore of Raleigh, Elizabeth Thomas of Pensacola, Florida, Mary Thompson (Stanley) of Charlotte, Jean Smith (William) and Evelyn Sullivan both of Raleigh.; four Brothers: Dwight and Herman Smith and Abdul Shaheed all of Raleigh, Rodney Smith of Jacksonville, NC; two Sister-in-laws: Qulean Harley of New York and Betsy McClain, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives; three Special Friends: Mr. George Clements, Mrs. Bernice Bledsoe and Ms. Valarie Lee of Raleigh.
