Josephine Bonasera at the age of 90 passed away peacefully on 10/12/2021 at SECU Hospice House of Johnston Health in Smithfield, NC. Josephine was born on 8/11/1931 in New York, NY to Charles and Katherine Friscia. She grew up as a tomboy, loving baseball and the Yankees. She recently told her son Joseph that she would cut school if there was a baseball game to play. She had the thrill of her life when as a young woman she went to a dance and got to dance with Whitey Ford! The Yankees ace pitcher! Quite exciting! Josie, as she was known was married to Joseph Bonasera until his passing in 2006. They together raised 3 children on Long Island, NY in the town of Deer Park. There she'd spend many days taking her children fishing and to the beach. She was also into local polities and even became a republican comity woman for the town of Babylon for over 30 years. To fill her love of baseball she coached a softball team named the Dahlias for many years and enjoyed coaching immensely. She also worked at the middle school cafeteria while her children grew up. All the kids loved "Mrs. B"! She loved her family and friends dearly and spent most weekends playing cards with their closest group of friends. They also enjoyed rolling back the carpets and dancing the night away! Josie and Joe were amazing at dancing the Lindy! Josie was an amazing cook and shinned during the holidays, family and friend gatherings. Not one person left the house feeling hungry for days. She loved feeding people and entertaining and was so happy and proud that her meals were enjoyed. Josie was one of those people who made friends with everyone she met. She had made friends from New York to Florida, California to Colorado and even the few short years here in North Carolina. No matter where she went, she would run into someone who she knew her and loved her. Josie was survived by her 3 children, Joseph Bonasera, Charles Bonasera and Vincenette Bonasera, Charles wife Patricia Bonasera, her brother Anthony Friscia, her 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. We all love her and will miss her more than words can express!
