James F Hayes

James "Jimmy" F. Hayes Sr of Cameron NC was welcomed into Heaven on September 18, 2020 following complications from a stroke. As he left this earthly world, he was surrounded by the love of his family and friends. He was the beloved husband of 58 years to his loving wife Noreen Hayes. Jimmy was born in Lynn, MA on March 28, 1942 to the late Mary and John Hayes. He attend St. Johns School in Peabody and went on to graduate from Peabody High school before joining the US Air Force and being stationed at Loring Air Force Base in Maine. He served his country in the Korean War and was honorably discharged as an Airman 3rd Class from the US Air Force on October 24, 1961. After serving in the Air Force he attended Northern Essex Community College where he earned an associate of Science. He went on to work for Haartz Corporation where he was instrumental in developing a fire blocker for school bus seats. He spent many years working at Haartz Corporation before relocating with the company to NC in 1994 Jimmy was a family man through and through. He enjoyed any time he could spend with Noreen and each of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They all had a very special place in his heart. Whether at a marching band performance, dance recital, softball game, graduation or wedding, he soaked it all up. He was a real jokester and loved to make people laugh. He himself had a memorable laugh that won't be forgotten. Jimmy also loved traveling, scuba diving, tinkering with things around the house to make them work better, the Boston Red Sox, and his two pet birds GiGi and Oscar. In addition to his wife, Jimmy is survived by his children that he was always a rock for and will be missed by Jackie Skidmore and her late husband Frank of NH ; James Hayes Jr and his wife Shannon of NC; and John Hayes and his wife Penny of NH. He adored all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved watching them grow. He is lovingly and forever missed by Amber Dionne, her husband Jeff and their daughter Lilyan of NH; Heather Krisolofsky, her husband Jay and their daughters Emma and Addyson of CT; Ian Hayes and Ashley Boudreau of NH; Shelley Dineen, her husband Dan and their daughter Sophie of NH ; Kimberly Hayes and her fianc Tom Fang of OR; Brian Hayes and his fianc Ashley Cipriano of NC and Rhiannon Hayes of NC. He was preceded in death by his daughters Michelle Hayes and Sheila Hayes and his grandchildren Carrie Hayes, Kelly Hayes and Sean Hayes. Knowing he was welcomed into their loving arms in Heaven gives those he leaves behind peace. Jimmy was one of eight children in his family. He is survived by his brothers Bob Hayes and his wife Tootsie, Billy Hayes and his wife Sheila and by his sisters Judy Bosonac and her husband Bobby, Kathy Pfingston and her husband Bobby and Betsy Fishman and her husband Jim. He was preceded in death by his sister Patty Hayes and brother Jack Hayes. The list of nieces, nephews and cousins could go on forever, but he loved them all and he will be missed by each of them. Jimmy had a very special bond with his Aunt Dot and Uncle Billy Noonan of Gloucester MA and spent much of his childhood there before joining the Air Force. He made it a point to visit whenever he was back in the area. "Though I know I'll never lose affection for people and things that went before, I know I'll often stop and think about them, in my life I love you more." The Beatles (In My Life) We love you "grandpa" and will miss you terribly. Your wings were ready, but our hearts were not. Until we meet again. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
