Jamari Sharpe was a cherished son, grandson, brother, nephew, friend, and so much more to so many people. His life ended far too soon, leaving behind a family and community who will forever feel the absence of his presence, smile, energy, and the future that should have been his.
Jamari Yamar Sharpe was born on March 4, 2005 in Raleigh, North Carolina. He grew into a handsome young man with an easy smile that lit up every room he entered. Though he could sometimes seem quiet and reserved, those who knew him knew his personality, his humor, his unique way of expressing himself, and his passion for life and all the new experiences it could bring.
Sports became an important part of Jamari’s life from a young age. Naturally athletic, he excelled at every sport he tried – including baseball and tumbling. But his true passion was soccer. He was happiest with a ball at his feet and created memories on and off the pitch that his family, coaches, and teammates will forever treasure.
He was so much more than an athlete.
He was the little boy who grew into the young man who would talk for the entire road trip. He was the younger brother who learned from and annoyed his older siblings. He was the fun big brother who always showed up for his younger siblings. He was the nephew who created as much joy as he did confusion. He was the grandson who adored his grandparents. He was his mother’s spitting image. He was the ultimate team player. He was the friend everyone wanted to have.
Jamari was deeply loved. He was surrounded by people who watched him grow, supported him, guided him, worried about him, laughed with him, and loved him in ways that words will never capture. Twenty-one years was simply not enough.
Those who love him will carry forward his memory, his spirit, and his passion for living life to the fullest. He will always be with us in videos, pictures, memories, fits of laughter, and quiet moments.
Jamari’s life mattered. His presence mattered, and the love his family and friends have for him did not end when his life did.
He will be loved, remembered, and missed beyond measure.
