Funeral services are slated for Graveside Services at 12 Noon on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Montlawn Memorial located at 2911 S. Wilmington St., Raleigh, NC 27603. Frances M. Carrington: She was born on July 25, 1936, one of nine children of the late John Allen and Topsie "Doll" Cooper McCullers. She was a woman of strength, courage, integrity, grace and compassion. She exemplified genuine kindness and was committed to serving others. She was considered the Matriarch of her family and found pleasure in taking care of everyone for as long as she could. God made her in HIS image so that she could worship, honor, relate to, and delight in him. Early in life, Frances joined St. Anna Freewill Baptist Church and was a faithful and dedicated member. One thing that she took great pleasure in was serving as a Trustee and she took her commitment to this role serious. She never refused to assist with anything needed for that ministry. Frances also served for several years at Rand Street Baptist Church in Garner, NC in various offices and the choir. She began her education at Juniper Level School and later graduated from Garner Consolidated. She went on to receive a degree from Hardbarger Business College. Frances was committed to be a diligent employee and was well known for her 34 years of service in the Layaway and Accounting Office at Kmart Corporations where she met so many people and obtained lots of lifetime friends. After a 5-year courtship, James Garfield Carrington asked for her hand in marriage and they were united in Holy Matrimony on May 7, 1959. She was a faithful and committed wife to him until his death March 2, 2004. Her commitment to him included serving him breakfast in bed every morning for most of the marriage. She spoiled him, and he spoiled her. They really were the Dynamic Duo! Due to her love for children she opened her heart and her mind as God Blessed her with a daughter in March of 1962. She always said she wanted 25 children and after receiving Pamela, she embraced her and gave motherhood all that she had. Supporting her in every area of her life and always being by her side. In June of 1988, a life changing event occurred in which she received her one and only Granddaughter (Laura) and her level of love surged. All who knew her knew that one of her missions at that point was to make sure Laura had all that she needed and most of what she wanted. "Mama Frances" as a lot of people called her, was a mom to so many. From the time she lived on Smith Drive in Garner, NC until now, she always looked out for and encouraged others. Lots of them seeked counsel from her as she willingly shared Godly Wisdom. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers: Jimmy, Thurman, Robert and Henry and two sisters: Dorothy "Sota" Wilson and Linda "Pinky" Greene. She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Pamela Haire(Kerby) of Angier, NC, one granddaughter, Laura Haire of Buies Creek, NC, two sisters, Gracie McCullers of the home and Christina Pettiford of Raleigh, NC, three sisters-in-law: Mary McCullers of Raleigh, NC and Annie Mae Carrington of Willow Springs, NC and Viola McCullers of Raleigh, NC , two goddaughters, a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and some very special friends.
