Mr. David Dewayne Still, born on September 10, 1956 in Norton, Virginia, to Doris and Ted Still, passed away at age 62 on January 3, 2019 in Raleigh, North Carolina. David attended King College and later served in the Air Force from 1979 to 1985. David served proudly in the Air Force and loved to tell about it. He was a talented mister fix-it who could build or repair most anything, or so he claimed. He generously volunteered countless Saturdays working with Habitat for Humanity and was honored as Habitat Volunteer of the Year in 1995. (Although that award may have more to do with falling off a roof or two.) David loved to ski and taught his sons how to take a fall on the slopes without hurting themselves. He enjoyed hiking the great outdoors and flipping sailboats on the lake. Anyone who knew him would agree, he lived his life on his own terms. David was preceded in death by his sister, Cassandra (Cassie) Blanton. He is survived by his sons, Jacob David Still and wife Lauren; John David Still and wife Casey; grandchildren, Elise Still, Caleb Still, and Audrey Still; parents, Ted and Doris Still; brother, Gregory Still; sisters, Amanda Cox and Jennifer Fleming. A Celebration of Life, officiated by Pastor Tim Brown, will be held 2:00pm Sunday, January 13 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 7000 Creedmoor Road, Raleigh, 27613. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in David's name to Habitat for Humanity, Veterans Affairs or Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. .
