Carol Brooks

Carol "CJ" Brooks, 64, author of "I...And When, A Disposable Child", transitioned this world at UNC Rex Hospital, 4820 Lake Boone Trail, Raleigh. At the time of her death January 3, 2025, CJ was a new resident of Raleigh, NC, and had previously lived in Washington, DC, Ft. Washington and Rockville, MD. She was born in Newburgh, NY, but raised and educated in Washington, DC. She graduated from Dunbar High School (Washington, DC) and Keystone Job Corp in Drums, Pennsylvania, and went on to study at Strayer University. CJ loved all kinds of music and whenever you saw her, earbuds were in place and her head was bobbing. She relocated to Raleigh, NC with her best friend, Mary Holloway, to get better treatment for the multiple myeloma that ravaged her body. She connected with The Fountain of Raleigh Fellowship Church, where Rev. Paul L. Anderson is the Pastor. There will be no funeral service, but a Memorial Service may be scheduled at a later date. There are no surviving family members.
