Carnella I. Collis

Ms. Carnella I. Collis, 51, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham. Funeral details will be announced once planned and approved by the family. Today, our hearts are broken as we all mourn the loss of a beloved mom, daughter, sister, aunt, and dear friend Carnella Irena Collis. Nella's world revolved around her two daughters, everything she did, and every decision she made was done with them in mind. On Monday, August 21, 2023, with her family by her side, her battle with cancer ended. Nella was born on January 25, 1972, in Washington DC. Her desire to help others led her to employment with Mako Medical where she worked as an Account Manager. She attended Eastern High School where she sang Soprano for the world-renowned Eastern High School Choir in Washington, DC; also known as the pride of Capital Hill. It was also here that she wrote for her school newspaper. She performed for several presidents such as George W. Bush; George H. Bush and Bill Clinton and was a background vocalist for various artists such as Barbara Mandrell and Anita Baker at the White House National Literacy Honors and participated in the nationally televised Christmas in Washington for several years. Carnella was preceded in death by her father Cornell Moore. She is survived by her two daughters, Kirston and Kammi, her mother Shirley, and stepfather, Alan Tyson, her two sisters, Gwendolyn Collis and Shirley Moore, and a host of family and friends." A Celebration of Her Life Ceremony will be conducted on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 5 PM at Lori's Funeral Home Corporate Headquarters/Galleria located at 1110 Holmes Street, Raleigh, NC 27610.
