A Celebration of a Life Well Lived Ceremony to be observed at 12 Noon Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Solid Rock Ministries International located at 401 Creech Road, Garner, NC 27529. Bishop L. Foday Farrar is the Pastor & Eulogist. There will be a Family Visitation Moments set aside from 11:30 AM to Noon. Final Burial & Military Rites will take place at Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Apex, NC. Mr. Billy Winfield Edwards, biological son of the late Ruth Stewart-Anderson; adoptive son of Beaulah Stewart and Edgar "Bill" Edwards, was born July 24, 1936 in Martinsville, Virginia. As a child he resided in Apex, North Carolina and attended Wake County Public schools. Upon graduation he served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War era. He later became a long distance truck driver and traveled throughout the United States. After a 32 year long career he loved, he retired from Schneider Trucking Company. Billy lived a simple but a profound life; He loved his family dearly and thoroughly enjoyed a great boxing match. He understood that the simple things in life were priceless and material things were only temporary and never defined him.Billy had a forgiving heart that allowed him to never hold a grudge and enjoyed each day as if it was his last.The embrace of Billy's quiet nature was refreshing. A great man of few words, but in his spoken words, was great wisdom and a sense of humor, which brought joy and laughter to all. To know Billy was to truly love him. Growing up in Apex, North Carolina, Billy was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in the Friendship Community. He attended, with his daughter, and later joined Solid Rock Ministry, International in Garner, North Carolina. At Solid Rock Ministry, Billy established and maintained a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This relationship allowed him to answer the peaceful call of the Master on the morning of November 5, 2015. Billy's legacy of humility, perseverance, and love for God will forever dwell in the hearts of those who survive him: From his union with Barbara Debnam Edwards His devoted daughter, Leondra Evette Edwards; son, Timothy Winfield Edwards; sister Clementina Schofield-Warren (Samuel) of Virginia Beach, VA; Three Grandchildren, Timyah C. Edwards, Lakole M. Edwards, Michaela G. Edwards, all of Raleigh,NC; a nephew and niece (New Haven, CT) and many other relatives and friends. Billy was preceded in death by his biological mother, Ruth Stewart-Anderson; his adoptive parents, Beaulah Stewart and Edgar "Bill" Edwards and brother, Cleveland "Bobby" Strickland,III.
