ANTOINETTE DELORES HUGHES-JENKINS LATTA The family is thankful for all the thoughts and prayers. The services will be held at mom's home church in Cary. Please contact Jennifer for more information. Thank you. Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Antoinette D. Hughes-Jenkins Latta, was born to Anthony Hughes and Ruby Skinner on September 22, 1949, in Bronx, New York. She transitioned on December 15, 2022, at Durham VA Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina. She was 73 years young. Antoinette's childhood and growing up years were in the Bronx, NY where she was an only child. After graduating high school, she attended nursing school and served in the United States Army as a Licensed Practical Nurse during the Vietnam War. Between the years of 1973 and 1979 she married and gave birth to three beautiful girls Jennifer, Nicole and Nayomi. After several duty stations in the Army, Antoinette and her children migrated to Greensboro, North Carolina where she worked at the UNC Chapel Hill Hospital for the next 4 years. Antoinette shifted to Private Duty, Home Health cases as she put her three girls through college. As a woman, Antoinette was very strong determined and went above and beyond in everything that she accomplished. As a mother, the previous proved to be the same. Antoinette was a Nurse in practice but made sure, that her children were able to do all that they wanted and needed. Antoinette worked the 11-7pm shift so that she could be home during the day with her girls when they came home from school. Antoinette was spontaneous and loved to travel and made sure her daughters were able to see more than just where they grew up. She always taught them to shoot for the moon and stars in life. Antoinette's favorite pass times were knitting, crossword puzzles, music and as of late the word app games on her cell phone. In Antoinette's later years, she met Ronald Gene Latta at the Dialysis center where they both went each week. They married June of 2019. Antoinette experienced many health difficulties in life, but she was ever grateful for God's redeeming grace and mercy shown to her. She loved the Lord and was a strong believer. Antoinette knew she was in the Lords hands. Surviving relatives to cherish her memory, include husband, Ronald Latta of Raleigh, NC; daughter, Ms. Jennifer Banks and granddaughter Sydney Taylor of Raleigh, NC; and many special friends. She also leaves in memory her two deceased children Nicole Brewington and Nayomi Graham. Events Details are pending.
