Sabra Parkin

Sabra Isabel (Johnstone) Parkin passed away Tuesday evening, October, 20, 2020, in Raleigh, NC surrounded by family after a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Stamford, Connecticut on November 30, 1937 to William and Charlotte Johnstone. She enjoyed music from an early age and started playing violin in high school. After high school, Sabra trained as a secretary and worked in a legal office in Connecticut. She married in 1960 and moved to Danbury, Connecticut where she raised four children. In 1990, she moved to Pensacola, FL where she began volunteering at the National Naval Aviation Museum and the Pensacola Museum of Art. She greatly enjoyed singing and sang with the Sweet Adelines in Connecticut and Florida and was very involved in the Gulf Coast Chorale. In addition to singing, she was an avid seamstress and gardener and was involved with the Bromeliad Society. Sabra is survived by her younger brother James Stark Johnstone, her four children, Nancy Charlton, Eric Parkin, Scott Parkin, and Debbie Lilley, as well as her 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her elder brother, David Johnstone. Sabra's funeral will be held on December 3, 2020 at 11:00 am.
